Tuesday 21st March 2006, Hethel, Norfolk: Proton today confirmed that their three-year shirt sponsorship with Norwich City Football Club will finish at the end of the current season.
Proton will however continue their successful partnership with the Canaries and are currently in discussion about new sponsorships with the Club.
Brian Collier, Managing Director of Proton Cars (UK) Ltd, said: "We have enjoyed a tremendously exciting three years with the Club and would like to extend our warmest thanks to the Directors, management, staff, players and supporters of Norwich City Football Club for their fantastic support'.
"From a pure business perspective, the sponsorship has been an unequivocal success, increasing our product and brand awareness not just in Norfolk but around the UK. It is now time for us to change to a more direct marketing campaign on the back of our recent TV advertising and put our resources into development of our dealer network and sales.'
"To that end we are moving into new areas of association with the Canaries, keeping the focus on our Norwich Proton showcase in the Jarrold Stand whilst continuing with other forms of support to the Club."
City's Director of Sales and Marketing Andrew Cullen looked back on three excellent years of working with Proton and said he was delighted that Proton will be continuing their involvement with the Club.
"The three-year partnership between Norwich City and Proton and Lotus Cars has been a major success for all concerned.'
"Thanks to the ground-breaking sponsorship deal we have new and lasting links with Southeast Asia following our wonderfully successful tour of Malaysia in 2004 and the on-going links we've forged through Proton, which we very much intend to maintain and strengthen.'
"Similarly the strong ties we now have in place with a legendary Norfolk-based engineering and sporting institution in the shape of Lotus Cars can only be a major plus for the Club moving forward.'
"The deal with Proton has benefited the Club in so many ways - and that's why it's such good news that through the continuing presence of the Norwich Proton Showroom at Carrow Road and our exciting plans for further sponsorship, the partnership will continue to grow from strength to strength for years to come.'
"We are grateful to each and everyone of our loyal supporters for playing their part in promoting the Club to both existing and potential sponsors and look forward to announcing a new shirt sponsor in the very near future.'
